Santa’s Visit 2017
Santa’s Visit
Christmas would not be Christmas without a visit from Santa and we in Leopardstown Heights invite Santa to visit all the houses a couple of weeks before Christmas.
Welcome to Leopardstown Heights
Over the past number of years our committee and sub-committees have been very busy getting involved in local initiatives and organising fun events for all residents. We now have a very active and robust estate of 369 houses surrounding a substantial green area. Exit the estate at the back will bring you shortly to the Dublin mountains and all the amenities which they can provide, exit from the front will deliver you easily to the M50 to travel around Ireland or the M11 to travel into Dublin.
Our estate is well served with excellent local schools and shopping amenities. Public transport – Dublin Bus and the Green line Luas are also close by. Our large green hosts a MUGA for football, hockey or basketball, a children’s play area, with hammock, also dog poo bins are provided on the green.
Soccer Tournament
Soccer Tournament
At the start of each summer soccer fever takes over Leopardstown Heights. This is a fun community based event for toddlers, children, teenagers and adults. All children taking part receive a medal and goodie bag and in each category, we also present a trophy to the boy and girl displaying the best sportsmanship. All children take this tournament very seriously and we round off a fun filled fortnight with a BBQ on the green.
Annual Clean-Up Day
The residents of Leopardstown Heights are very proud of our estate and our community co-operation proves that. Each April we hold a clean-up day during which we encourage all residents to help with some light maintenance around the estate.
Biodiversity Initiatives
Wildflower Meadow
Last year we initiated a wildflower meadow on the green. It was not successful as the ‘natural’ method proved too slow and the cordoned off area was not well differentiated from the rest of the Green. This year we are working with nature better and have sown wildflower seeds (poppy, marigold corn, Scabious Field, Daisy ox-eye)and transplanted some other wildflowers to the disturbed ground created at the new entrance to the estate at the foot of Mt. Eagle Lawn
